Sacraments are special signs of God's love, they represent an outward sign of an inward reality.

The seven sacraments touch all stages and all important moment of Christian life: they give birth and increase, healing and mission to the Christian's life of faith. The whole liturgical life of the Church revolves around the Eucharistic sacrifice and the sacraments.

Sacraments are organized into three groups

Sacraments of Initiation

  • Baptism
  • Confirmation
  • Eucharist

Sacraments of Healing

  • Penance
  • Anointing of the sick

Sacraments of Service

  • Holy Orders
  • Matrimony

Sacraments at St. Michael Parish

Baptism:  Baptisms are celebrated once a month, approximately 8 times a year. Baptisms are always celebrated during mass.  Baptism of Adults and Baptism of Older Children (7 +) see RCIA.

 

First Reconciliation:  Preparation for  First Reconciliation (also called First Penance or First Confession) takes place at St. Michael Parish in the fall.

This Sacrament is usually celebrated when children are 7 years of age, or in Grade 2.

 

 First Communion:   Preparation for First Communion takes place at St. Michael Parish in the new year after Easter on Wednesday evenings.  

This Sacrament is usually celebrated when children are 7 years of age, or in Grade 2.

 

Confirmation:  Preparation for Confirmation takes place at St. MichaelParish in the new year Wednesday evenings. 

This Sacrament is usually celebrated when children are 11 years of age or in Grade 6 .
